CLOSE TO EVERYTHING
In this area, important cultural facilities are located: the Art Museum of Rio - MAR is located at Mauá Square. The Museum of Tomorrow was built over Mauá Pier, a 15 thousand m2 building designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, and the AquaRio – the Marine Aquarium of Rio de Janeiro – will be the largest in South America.
In the Port Maravilha operation, actions to value the historical heritage of the region are also planned, such as the restoration of São Francisco da Prainha Church and José Bonifácio Cultural Center, which is a reference of black culture.
The new Mauá Square emerges totally refurbished, with 25 thousand m2, surrounded by the Art Museum of Rio - MAR, the Museum of Tomorrow and the Mauá Pier, where it is located the largest passenger ferry terminal in the country. Prefeito Luiz Paulo Conde Waterfront intended for pedestrians will extend for 3.5 km, running alongside port warehouses, from XV Square until the City of Samba.
